Pastures new

Yesterday we said 'Goodbye' to our baby chicks. We each got to hold one of them ( see individual Tapestry pages). What an amazing experience it has been for all the children. The true miracle of new life....

New adventures here we come....

Easter egg hunt

Yesterday we combined our maths, speaking and listening and personal, social and emotional development skills by having fun on our Easter egg hunt! We took with us the baskets we had carefully weaved to help deliver food to Red Riding Hood's Granny a couple of weeks before. Lucky that!!!

We had a range of clues to listen carefully to in order to work out where we had to go on our trail. The children were told that they must only take 1 treat each time and were great at following this rule.
Clue number 1 led us to the nest ( our super outdoor classroom).

Luke number 2 led us to the mound...

Next clue led us to the pond where we found a sigh 'No eggs here' ,oh dear!

Clue number 4 led us yo the junior trim trail....

And then next the train...

And our last clue leads us back to our classroom...

We had great fun because we listened to the rules and sick by them. You all deserve your Easter treats.

Egg-citing times!!

I arrived in school as early as I could ( 7.25 to be precise!) to find that Dave had 3 other siblings and another on its way. Chick 5's beak was visible and in the time I went out to greet the children, he had appeared!! Wow!! AlÅ‚ day we have waited and watched for chick number 6 to appear and despite a small crack, not much more has happened. Advice is not to open the incubator until all possible hatchlings have appeared but as it looked a little cramped we sought some egg- spert advice from the one and only Mr Hough ( who's field spans working for the RSPB  and filming/ working with a range of birds across the globe) who said it was ok and probably a good idea to transport our little chicks to their new home. Oh my goodness, what lovely little chicks we have!!! If only we didn't have a staff meeting to attend, Miss G and I could have sat and cuddled them for hours!!!
So, lesson 1, the art of eating and drinking was taught- a dip of a little beak in water and then in chick crumbs and hey presto, independent feeders!!!!

Night night little ones......
