We started the week thinking about clothes we wear in winter which led nicely with our maths focus on patterns and repeated patterns. Using the story of 'One Snowy Night' helped with both of these and we have recreated a lovely patterned patchwork quilt for Percy and his friends with our very own Hazel class friends. Make sure to look at our lovely display on Tuesday during 'Open school' ( it is in the small hall).
The children have been really enjoying patterns and even decided to add repeating patterns in some of their funky finger activities!
The children have decided that they wanted a house for our role play area. They decided we needed a sofa and a TV too! And since there has been an arrival of a new baby cousin, the children insisted on having babies. We talked about caring for babies and what they might need. We bathed them and changed their nappies and gave them some milk.
We even made a nappy basket and a box with milk bottles in and some children made labels so that they didn't get jumbled up!
The most popular programme on TV has been the weather report.....snow in East Harling!
We were very excited to see the snow on Thursday but sad it didn't last long and so we created our own!
Take some cornflour
We also got the 'crazy soap' out and enjoyed playing in this.
Those that didn't want to get 'messy' opted for 'Frozen' music and we had some lovely dressing up, singing and dancing.
As we celebrated Birthdays in class, it was mentioned that we needed cakes. Some children made little cakes ( all by themselves, honest!). We shared them with a DVD of the story 'Can't you sleep little bear' which we had enjoyed sharing earlier in the week. The children loved seeing a story they had heard and enjoyed being brought to life.
This weeks blog is great. Love all the pictures.
