Reading cafe

Yesterday we held our first joint reading cafe.
We started by talking to the parents and grown ups about reading and how we teach phonics and reading.
We then invited the children in Cherry and Hazel class into the hall for us to share the story 'Open very carefully A book with bite,'

The children and our visitors were then invited to select from a wide range of reading and writing  activities to use and apply our fantastic phonic knowledge.

Monkey words...

Play dough letters...

Drawing/ writing sounds the crocodile ate...

Hairy letters...

I spy with my little eye...

Phoneme frames - writing cvc words...

Using magnetic letters to match sounds to spell words...

I spy again...

Sharing favourite stories...

I spy sound objects...

Spelling words using letters...

And we even made some scary crocodiles!!

Post office visit

We have been busy writing our letters to Father Christmas this week. Here are a few but everyone has their own personal letter on their Tapestry page.

We then took them down to the post office where we bought our stamps.

We then took our letters to the post box and whispered a special wish before we dropped them into the postbox!

So, they are now on their journey to that magical place.....
We are being good Father Christmas. 🎁🎄
